About Dan Kalmick

Dan has lived in Huntington Beach for the last 13 years; moving here from Seal Beach when he bought his home in Northeast HB after college. Dan holds a Bachelors of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of California, Berkeley. Dan has had the pleasure of serving on the HB Planning Commission for the past 5 years (as chair in 2015) and is the owner of a small business IT management consulting company based in Huntington Beach (which he started when he was 11 years old).

He has served on various boards and commissions and subcommittees throughout the City and region including most recently the General Plan Advisory Committee for the City’s current General Plan update, as Vice Chair of the Citizens Advisory Committee with the Orange County Transportation Authority(OCTA) and its Bike/Pedestrian and Technology/Innovation Subcommittee. He also currently serves as Treasurer and past Vice President of the Bolsa Chica Land Trust and also sits on the Board of Algalita Marine Research and Education

Dan has been a Reserve Firefighter/Officer/EMT in Seal Beach with the Orange County Fire Authority and an Executive Board member with the Huntington Beach Downtown Residents Association. A member of the Board of the Huntington Beach Public Art Alliance, Dan helped to organize the recent Dumpsters on Parade event as well as coordinating logistics and permitting with public agencies and utilities for art on utility boxes. Dan currently volunteers with the Huntington Beach Fire Department performing Senior Home Inspections with Project SHIP and he volunteers as the facilitator for a computer class for seniors at the Senior Center in the Park, the second and fourth Thursdays of every month.

Dan loves to read, consume media, and travel; having visited more than 40 countries on 5 continents, including such far flung places as Mongolia, Cuba, taking the Trans Siberian Railroad across Russia and to Patagonia at the bottom of the world. His wife, Alison, will be moving to Huntington Beach later this year (they were married in June); joining him and his fat cat, Butters.
